Ground Training (Immortal Outcasts Series Book 5) by Mandy M. Roth

More excitement!

This story gives us the story of Ace Hargraves, a Government made shifter, and Charlotte “Charley” Eyres who was stolen from The Corporation while a small child by her father Samuel.  Mandy Roth gives us a backstory for these two that takes place 25 years in the past.  Then on to the present where the two know nothing of each other.

This book brings in characters from previous books, which really would help someone who hasn’t read them understand a little of what is going on in this shifter heavy world.  It’s an enjoyable read, but only gives just enough progress with the evil going on to make the reader want the next book NOW.  Well written, with good, interesting characters.  Part of a larger series, for the best understanding of the story and characters, read the previous books.

I was given an ARC by the author through Booksprout, and this is my honest opinion.

More from the supernatural town of Grimm Cove

This next entry into Mandy M. Roth’s Grimm Cove series reminds me of Book 5, Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck. We meet Jonathan Harker, a wolf shifter-vampire hybrid who is working to defeat the evil that is still trying to take over the human world.  Willa Murray (twin of Mina) is descended from Wilhelmina Murray (from the Bram Stoker book).  But she doesn’t think she has any abilities.   And so, our story starts about 20 years in the past. The main characters have their initial meeting, but don’t get the other person’s name.  Mandy M. Roth weaves an intricate storyline, tying characters from previous books, and incidents that have happened in the past into a cohesive story.  It flows smoothly from our characters past into events that are happening now.   This is a very enjoyable read, but readers should have already read the previous books, or you will be lost when characters pop into the story.  A Timeline of major events would be nice, but the author has created a world that is familiar but also so much more.  Spend the time and read this series!

I was given an ARC by the author through Booksprout and this is my honest opinion.

More from Hedgewitch Cove

Set in the southern town of Hedgewitch Cove, where all kinds of supernatural beings have made homes for themselves, this is the story of Beatrice Caillat and Samuel Gentry.  Bea and Sam were together years ago, but Sam left her…for no reason that she was aware of.  Now he’s back and avoiding her.  Mandy M. Roth takes these basic facts and writes another fun romance in this short story.  Other characters from prior books make appearances which only adds to this world that she’s built. This is one story from the Anthology “Witching the Night Away”.  Looking forward to more from Hedgewitch Cove.  I was given an ARC of this story by the author, and this is my honest opinion.

Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Romance Novel (Grimm Cove Book 5) by Mandy M. Roth

Non-Linear Timeline

This is the 5th book in the series, and like the previous book, doesn’t really follow a straight line.  Once you accept that, the story is interesting and gives you more information about what is happening in Grimm Cove.  The two main characters, Rachael Franks (Frankenstein) and Drest Bright are meant to be together, but the road they follow takes a long and convoluted track to get to the end.  This book should be read after the first 4 in the series because each is intertwined and will be harder to follow without having read the others. This book is well written, with no grammatical or spelling errors.  Other than the way the timeline is handled, I enjoyed reading Book 5 and am looking forward to book 6.  I was given an ARC of this book by the author through BookSprout and this is my honest opinion.

More from Grimm Cove!

This is the 4th book in Mandy Roth’s Grimm Cove series and introduces us to Detective Stratton Bright and Astrid Franks.  Moving back into the past and then into the present it was a little confusing at first.  There are ins and outs to the story that make this a very interesting read.  I enjoy this series so much!  Well done, Mandy!  I received and ARC of this book from the author through Booksprout, but also purchased a copy.  This is my honest opinion.

Act of Freedom (PSI-Ops #8) by Mandy M. Roth

Worth the wait!

If you’ve been reading these interconnected books (Immortal Ops, PSI-Ops, Immortal Outcasts, Shadow Agents, Crimson Ops) by Mandy Roth, you will recognize Striker (Dougal McCracken) from previous books.  His character has grown with each appearance, and I, for one, have been waiting to hear his story.  A big Scotsman, who would be called a player in today’s world, he has lived hundreds of years.  Nothing has bothered him until about 5 years ago.  He met 2 women in a hotel in Egypt.  He helped save one, but the other has been lost.  Striker has tried to move on and forget that he was unable to save her.  And this is where his story starts.

Well written, with fully developed characters, Mandy M. Roth has done an outstanding job of giving us Striker’s story.  Characters from the other books in this series make appearances, but they add to the story, not just fill space.  If you are a new to Mandy Roth reader, this is a terrific book, but you really need to know the backstory that encompasses the entire series.  Either start with book 1 in the PSI-OPS series Act of Mercy, or book 1 of the entire series from Immortal Ops entitled Immortal Ops.  All are easy to read and entertaining.  And you’ll join the rest of us, waiting for the next book in this Paranormal world.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author through Booksprout, and this is my honest opinion.

Short but good!

This is the very last book in this collection, and I enjoyed reading it very much.  Even though it is a short story, the characters are well-developed, and the plot is complete.  It is a typical Mandy M. Roth novella and is fun read if you only have about an hour.  I was given an ARC copy of the book to read and review by the author and BookSprout and this is my honest review.

I will update my review as I read additional stories in this collection.
