Dragon Forged: A Dragon Kings Novel Book 10 by Donna Grant

5 Stars

What a Story!

This is a part of a very large Dark Universe that Donna Grant has created.  With this, the 10th book in the Dragon Kings series set mostly on Zora (an Earth like planet) we meet Hector, Dragon King of the Sea Greens.  He is helping clean up a partially destroyed underground city, and inadeptly touches an artifact which sends him to another place he’s never seen before.  A woman comes in, sees him, and tell him to follow her.  She is Emillia who has magic that allows her to see limited visions of the future.  She leads Hector to a door, and when he opens it, he is back to unfamiliar land but feels familiar.  This is the beginning of an interesting and entertaining book that gives the reader a little more information about how the planet Zora works.  Very well written, with interesting characters, I enjoyed it very much.  Donna Grant has developed an intricate universe for all the different kinds of beings who populate her worlds.  If you are a new reader, to get the full experience of the intertwined books, start with the Warriors.  Follow Donna’s recommended reading order and you’ll be devouring these wonderful, exciting, imaginative, and heroic characters.  I don’t know how Ms. Grant continues to write these excellent books, but I hope she continues for a long, long time.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author through BookFunnel, and this is my honest opinion.

Dragon Marked by Donna Grant

I would sell my dragon soul to possess her…

From the moment I saw her, she held me enthralled. It was more than her beauty. It was in the very way she looked at the world.

The way she looked at me.

She saw me as no one ever had. The scars I tried to bury, the wounds no one else knew about. She saw the worst parts of me—and she didn’t look away.

Together we pursue a shared nemesis. While a terrifying foe stalks us at every turn.

Whatever enemy dares to get close, I will slay. Whatever path she walks, I will be beside her.

For I am hers. Utterly. Completely.

She’s my greatest temptation. The other half of my soul.

My mate.

The Uncrowned King (The Bastard Duology Book 2) by Donna Grant

5 Stars

Entirely entertaining!

This is part 2 of the Bastard Duology and well worth reading.  Donna Grant left a cliffhanger at the end of Book 1 and this picks up immediately after.  Derek, our main male character and a dragon is written exceptionally well, and Kora our hellhound female main character shows that she is able to change her world view and prejudices.  I loved this Duology!  Ms. Grant’s writing reminds me of how the very first Warrior and Dragon King books are written, hot men and capable women in situations that they didn’t want or expect.   With an expansive plot line and many characters in supporting roles a new reader would benefit from reading earlier books in Donna’s Dark Universe.  She always manages to create new personalities in every book, with new challenges for all the intertwined characters to overcome.  If you like paranormal books, this series has some surprising twists and turns and is well worth your time.

I received and ARC of this book from the author through BookFunnel and this is my honest opinion.

The Bastard King (The Bastard Duology #1) by Donna Grant

5 Stars

An amazing story….

This is book 1 of a duology, but it’s really a part of a much bigger set of books that are all a part of Donna Grant’s Dark Universe.  This particular book features Derek, a Dragon who is not a part of Donna’s regular Dragons.  This separation is what makes this story so different from the others.  We know nothing about him, except his thoughts and memories.  Our second main character is Kora who isn’t human but tries to appear so.  They are on the planet, or realm as they call it, Zora where there are Dragons, Humans, Fae, and Star People.  If you haven’t read any of the other books in this series, you will have questions.  Donna Grant is an exceptional writer, and it would be worth your time to read the other books, at least in this part of her Universe first.  But this book!  It is an intricate weaving of so many bits and pieces and interwoven characters that I didn’t want to stop reading.  Our two main characters are not what a dedicated reader would expect, but this gives us so many new and interesting plot points that I can’t wait for the 2nd book to be released.  As always, Donna’s writing is masterful, with grammar and storyline well done.  Her characterizations are always fresh and insightful.  Take the time to read the series of books, and this one will be a favorite.  I would say that this book is on par with Darkest Flame, Hot Blooded, Fire Rising, and Torched.  This book is escapism at its best.

I received an ARC of the book from the Author and BookFunnel, and this is my honest opinion.

Dragon Born (Dragon Kings #8) by Donna Grant

5 Stars

Worth the wait!

This book returns us to the story of Henry North, a former MI5 agent, Druid, and loyal supporter of the Dragon Kings.  The female main character is the Dragon Queen Melisse, Queen of the Violets and half dragon half Fae, who is many thousands of years old.  Henry has been in many of the Dark Universe books, starting with Kellan’s story.  Melisse was introduced much later, but before becoming a Dragon Queen, she had been held by the King of Dragon Kings as a secret weapon who could destroy all dragons.  Constantine, the current King of Dragon Kings finally released her.  The meeting of Henry and Melisse sparked much speculation on their futures and this book finally gives us the story that dedicated fans have been waiting years for.  Extremely well written, and with such interesting stories, Dragon Born returns us to the excitement that Donna Grant has built up over years.  I won’t say that this completes the story for Henry and Melisse as Ms. Grant weaves intricate and interesting plots into her books.  I cannot wait to read the next book in her Dark Universe.

I was given and ARC by the author, and this is my honest opinion.

Fake Dating the Dragon: A steamy and sweet monster romance (Motham City Monsters Book 4) by Lilith Stone

3 Stars

Almost too sweet

This is a standalone book.  Our main female character is Minerva (Min) Westwind who runs the Westerly Bookshop which she inherited from her father.  Our Dragon is Ethan Blade, a wealthy entrepreneur.  Set in a world not unlike Earth the supporting characters show traits that are very common here.  It’s divided not human and non-human areas.  Zones between the two-support land owning humans who tolerate Monsters, who are not allowed into human land.  This was a very easy book to read without having to read the prior books to understand the author’s world.  The story was very sweet between the main characters as other reviewers have noted, it could have used a bit more heat in the very clean scenes between Min and Ethan.  The story moved along fairly well with a few grammar errors.  The ending felt rushed and could have been more detailed.    I will read the other books in the series as the premise of these books is interesting.

I received and ARC of the book Through BookSirens and this is my honest opinion.

Stories from Donna Grant’s Dark Universe

This is a collection of 4 stories that have previously been published but are now in one book.  In this you will find Warriors, Reapers, and Dragons, with each touching on the lives of the characters of each of the series.  Dark Alpha’s Silent Night is the Reaper story, which I gave 4 stars when I originally read it.  My Fiery Valentine is set at Dregan with the Dragons, with one couple in particular.  5 stars on this one.  Shards of Hope is only 2 chapters, and features Ulrik and Eillish.  I feel that this needs to be made longer, just because there should be more for us to enjoy. And the last is A Warrior for Christmas which features each couple and their celebration of the Solstice and Christmas.  A bonus feature of this story is the recipes that each couple enjoy.  I gave this one 5 stars.

My overall rating for this book is 5 stars, and if you’ve read any of the books in Donna Grant’s Dark Universe you will enjoy this look at what has happened since their books were published.  The writing is excellent, and the stories are in keeping with the characters.  I am hoping that Ms. Grant will continue to add these slice of life stories; fans love the series and love to revisit them.

My Fiery Valentine by Donna Grant

5 Stars

Dragons can be romantic

This short novella is re-visiting Vlad (V) and Clare, who’ve had multiple problems in their short time together.  Set at Dreagan, with cameo appearances of some of the other Kings and their mates, we see both Clare and V embracing the ideas of Valentine’s Day.  Each has decided to surprise the other with romance.  An enjoyable, well-written story, we get a glimpse of what life is like for those who call Dreagan home.  Donna has written this story to include only those who are residing there, and how they spend their time.  A reader will find only good thoughts and happy times in this novella, which is fine after all the extended family has gone and will go through. Having read all the prior books will make this book easier to understand.  I received this ARC of My Fiery Valentine from the author through BookFunnel, and this is my honest opinion.

Not Her Dragon: Paranormal Romantic Comedy (Not This Series Book 8) by Annie Nicholas

Love will find a way

In this fun series Annie Nicholas takes us to a world with dragons, werewolves, vampires, and other shifters.  And in this book our two main characters have played parts in other books of the series and are finally getting their stories told.  We’ve met Cedric in Not His Dragon, and Bella just happens to be Eoin’s sister.  Several other characters from prior books make appearances.  But this is the story of Cedric and Bella and it’s a great one.  There’s enough tension at the start, and then action and a bit of attraction between them to make the book one of those you don’t want to put down.  Annie Nicholas has given us a well written and well-rounded book that will leave you wanting more!  I’m looking forward to the next book and can’t wait to see who it will be about.  I was given an ARC by the author thru Prolific Works, and this is my honest opinion.
